For this extensive renovation of a private residence in the West Paces Ferry area of Atlanta, changes to the exterior are only a small part of the improvements made to the home. Interior spaces were completely reorganized and improved to create a new layout of an open and interconnected series of flowing spaces for this growing family.
View of the Screened Porch Fireplace
The new tall bay window fills the gable end of the vaulted Living Room. In the distance, a new screened porch with outdoor fireplace creates a place for year-round outdoor living.

View of the New Stair Tower Entry
A new tower was created to provide room for a new stair to an expanded playroom over the garage. The upper level of the tower holds a study and computer area. Below, a new pool area powder room is accessible from the outside.
View of the New Foyer Stair
A new curved stair leads to a new Game Room above the once two-story foyer, now a single-height space with timber beams and trim at the new, lower ceiling. By moving the stair from the immediate space of the entry, a cleaner, more gracious foyer space is created. In its new location, the stairway is now an elegant focal point in the reconfigured foyer.
View of the Kitchen
All new custom kitchen cabinetry gives the new kitchen a bright, open feel. A built-in island seating table sits as an extension of the kitchen island, providing a good spot for easy conversation and interactions with visiting friends and family.
View of the Kitchen Fireplace
A raised, double-sided fireplace divides the Kitchen and Family Room, providing a warm and inviting center for both rooms, while preserving just enough of a division between the two to allow multiple functions to occur simultaneously.
View of the New Living Room Bay Window
A new tall bay window in the Living Room gives expansive views of the yard and gardens behind the home and fills the room with natural light.
View of the Living Room Fireplace
A new stone fireplace, antique timber beams and wood ceiling planking add warmth and substance to the tall, vaulted space of the Living Room. The height of the fireplace compliments a full-height bay window at the end of the room, and the combination makes a tall space feel grand but also intimate.
View of the Screened Porch Fireplace
A new screened porch is connected to the Living Room and Family Room and overlooks the rear gardens. The new porch, with a gracious stone fireplace, provides an outdoor living space that can be enjoyed year-round.
